Safety Internship
This Internship provides a hands-on learning experience directly related to responsibilities that transfer to skills needed for a permanent full-time position. The opportunity is available to develop, participate and learn key roles and functions within our construction safety operations. We are looking for Interns who like to build things, get their hands dirty, and who want to explore the possibility of a future long-term career at Nova.
Location:
We have projects all across the United States, in large cities and small towns, so our people must be willing to go where the work is. Job assignment location will be determined closer to your start date.
Primary Responsibilities
The primary goal for a safety intern is to gain an understanding of the construction process and to assist the Safety Manager in supporting the project team in the successful completion of a construction project.
This position assists the project team in planning, monitoring work activities, and gaining correction of unsafe acts or conditions.
We are looking for the next generation of leaders who strive for excellence and have the drive and desire it takes to work in the fast paced, heavy construction environment.
Essential Job Functions
Gain knowledge of the Company Safety & Health Program
Assist the Safety Manager in the project site-specific safety orientation
Assist in the development and review of Activity Hazard Analysis
Assist the project team in conducting project safety audits
Assist the project team with accident and/or near miss investigations
Qualifications
Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Occupational Safety & Health or construction management
Able to fully participate in job assignments at whichever job site, office or department to which the Intern is assigned
Able to temporarily relocate and work full-time during the summer of 2019 (approximately May-August)
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
Strong work ethic ? Highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan ahead and conceptualize
Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA requirements is preferred
The position may require specific badging or other security requirements, which may require a criminal or other background check.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
