Food Service Supervisor

The Food Service Supervisor will demonstrate Christian hospitality in meeting the physical needs of guest and staff with appealing and nourishing meals at all camps and retreats. This position will communicate directly with the Operations Director, Program Directors, and Guest Group Coordinator in planning and carrying out services involving their area of responsibility.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:(Responsibilities, Accountabilities, and Competencies; May not include all duties of this job
Hire, train, evaluate and supervise cooks, kitchen helpers, dining room manager, (when there is no dining room supervisor the list includes: dishwashers, waitresses and waiters). Supervise summer LIT leaders and interns when they are servings as dining room leaders.
Maintain current job description for staff and procedures for all functions in the kitchen.
Plan menus, purchase food, supervise food preparation and maintain proper food storage.
With the Director, develop and manage the Food Service budget, obtaining approval from the Director for unbudgeted expenses.
Maintain kitchen in a sanitary condition at a level acceptable to health department standards.
Work with Dining Room Supervisor in organizing the serving of food and the service in the dining room. Maintain a clean dining room and entry areas
Maintain necessary records for inventory, meal count, meal costs, government programs, etc. Monitor costs and keep food service costs within budget.
Be creative in revising and acquiring new recipes to give variety and "special touches" to the menu and to meet the expressed desires of the guests
Keep an inventory of kitchen supplies, dishes and utensils, and order replacement as needed.
Assist in planning additional training sessions for Cooks and Dining Room staff as needed.
Work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers, staff, and campers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Dining Room Supervisor and staff.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience)
Christ-centered: A deep and abiding faith that is fully surrendered to the will of Jesus Christ, evidenced by a lifestyle that is consistent with biblical principles in word and deed. Commitment to spiritual growth and development. Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: 4 years of food service management, or equivalent experience in process and system implementation and spiritual and organizational leadership.
Licensure/Certification: Food handler's license.
Other Considerations: Contribute to and encourage a spirit of unity, teamwork, and loyalty among the staff, to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ability to work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers, staff, and campers.
Software and Equipment Used: Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:(Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience)
6 years of food service management.
3 years of experience in ministry.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
